Return of the black cockatoos.

The skies have been quiet for a couple of months, but the red-tailed black cockatoos have finally returned, screeching their way across the neighbourhood. They really love feasting in the tree next door, so if I sit in my garden, all I can hear is rustling and cracking as they munch through the seeds.

I’ve always been a bit scared of big birds like cockatoos, magpies, big parrots etc as they look so primitive and have scary eyes. But these are quite beautiful. From a distance, anyway.

If you click the square photos they will load a lightbox slideshow.

I took some photos of the cockatoos this time last year as well. Check them out here.
