Sunset in a flower

Not far from my home is a little reserve full of banksia trees growing in a limestone soil.

It probably gets ignored a lot of the time being beside a busy main road,  as it’s mainly just scrubby looking trees.

At the moment though, there are heaps of pretty banksias in bloom. And you really don’t get to experience the real beauty and intricacies of them unless you’re close up.

So colourful! Like a sunset.

Banksias are pretty much my favourite plant. I’ve been known to get a little obsessed with them, what with their pretty colours and variety of spiky leaves.

This would look gorgeous on canvas.

They make me happy. And I’d take a big colourful bunch of native flowers over lillies or roses any day.
