Australian wildflowers

30 day photography challenge. Day 8 – Close up.

The blue flower is a native orchid, probably a sun orchid. I found one growing wild on the side of a street in Lesmurdie (Perth hills).

Jason bought me this lovely Leucospermum plant as a present last weekend. From what I can see, whilst it looks very similar to a banksia (it’s from the same proteaceae family) it’s one native to South Africa.

I love the ribbon like sections in it, which remind me of hard boiled sweets like humbugs.
